At MidKent College, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. We recognise that success at college is not only about academic achievement. It is also about feeling safe, supported, and confident in yourself and your surroundings.
That is why we offer a wide range of services designed to help students stay well, both mentally and physically, throughout their time with us.
Wellbeing teams on campus
Each of our campuses has a dedicated Student Wellbeing Team. These teams are made up of trained professionals who offer confidential advice and guidance to students facing a variety of challenges. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, or problems at home, you can drop in for a chat or book a private appointment. Our wellbeing staff are based in central, accessible locations on both the Maidstone and Medway campuses, and they work closely with tutors and other support services to make sure you get the help you need.
On-site counselling
Sometimes you might need more focused support. That is why we offer free, confidential counselling on site. Our counsellors are fully qualified and experienced in supporting young people. They provide a safe, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind. Counselling can be short term or longer term, depending on what suits you best.
Safeguarding support
Student safety is a top priority. Our safeguarding team works to make sure all students are protected from harm, whether that happens inside or outside college. If you are worried about your own safety or someone else’s, this team is here to listen and act quickly and sensitively. They also support students facing more complex challenges such as domestic abuse, homelessness, or exploitation.
Practical help and financial support
We know that financial stress can have an impact on wellbeing. Our student finance team can help with advice about bursaries, travel costs, and meal support. We also provide quiet spaces, free period products, and access to equipment or resources if you need extra support.
Putting wellbeing first
Wellbeing is not just about support services. We are building a college culture that encourages connection, self-care, and balance. From enrichment days and lunchtime clubs to creative workshops and team activities, there are lots of ways to take a break, meet people, and look after your mental health.
At MidKent College, your wellbeing matters. You are never on your own — we are here to support you every step of the way.
