Exams are over, summer is here, and you’ve got your offer to start at MidKent College in September! You’ve earned a break, so definitely take some time to chill. But if you want to hit the ground running in September, here are a few easy things you can do this summer to make sure you’re ready for day one.
Ensure all your admin is completed
- Have you completed your online enrolment?
If not, now’s the time! Check your email inbox for your personal link to the enrolment portal and complete the process as soon as possible. - Add us to your trusted senders list

Check when your in-person enrolment is scheduled on the portal. If you're unsure whether you're available, check with your parents/carers now. On holiday or have another commitment? Let us know as soon as you can — and we will get it rearranged. Once confirmed, add the date and time to your phone calendar so you don’t forget! - Need financial support?
If you think you might be eligible for help with costs, don’t forget to apply for the Discretionary Bursary.
Get your stuff together
- If your course requires a uniform, don’t worry, you’ll receive full details about what you need when you come in to enrol in September. There’s no need to buy anything just yet.
- Start picking up the essentials: bag, stationery, notebooks, folders.
- Think about what you might need day to day.
Plan your journey
- Work out how you’ll get to campus: check bus/train routes or driving times.
- Try a practice run if you’re unsure – it’ll ease any first-day stress.
Think about your budget – apply for the bursary if you’re eligible
- Think about lunch costs, travel, supplies, and maybe social plans.

Have a summer adventure
- Make the most of your break! Visit new places, try something different and remember to take lots of photos.
- You'll have some great memories and stories to share with new friends at college.
Try a summer job or volunteering
- It’s a great way to earn some cash and boost your CV or UCAS application form.
- Even just a few shifts help build confidence, independence, and time-management skills.
Join the conversation
- Follow MidKent College on socials for updates, events, and tips.
- Look out for any student group chats
Recharge and reset
- Rest is just as important as prep! Use summer to relax, enjoy yourself, and focus on your wellbeing.
- Get into a healthy routine (even a loose one), it’ll help you feel more in control when term starts.
